Annabel sits, a little apart from the summer house, hardly noticing Miriam. She breathes deeply, taking a moment to recover from her spasm. Miriam is meanwhile folding away the table and the garden chair to clear the trapdoor.

I mean, what was the point of drugging the woman….

Correct Version (correction in bold italics):
Miriam: I will

Annabel sits, a little apart from the summer house, hardly noticing Miriam. She breathes deeply, taking a moment to recover from her spasm. Miriam is meanwhile folding away the table and the garden chair to clear the trapdoor.

Annabel: I mean, what was the point of drugging the woman…. (the rest of the speech over three paragraphs is Annabel talking as opposed to the impression it is Miriam talking given in the original publications).
